Mulch, mulch, mulch

The following is a list of seven recommended mulch materials:

-Grass clippings
rich in nitrogen and easy to get

-Hay
breaks down fast when exposed to rain

-Leaves
provides long-lasting organic matter and easy to get

-Paper
kills weeds, decomposes quickly when moist, easy to get

-Sawdust
provides long-lasting organic matter, easily stored, easy to get

-Straw
usually free of weeds, easily grown, easy to use

-Wood chips
usually free of weeds, provides long-lasting organic matter, easy to get

Thanks, this was the most helpful post for me. I've been wondering what options I have as far as mulch.

I would be afraid to use grass clippings. Wouldn't they cause grass to grow in my flower beds?
